As of April 2024, SoonerCare now offers four different plan options, and it’s important to know which ones are accepted at Advantage Eye Care:
Accepted Plans:
- Original SoonerCare / Medicaid
- Oklahoma Complete Health
Not Accepted:
- Aetna Better Health
- Humana Healthy Horizons
If you’re unsure about which plan you have, give us a call—we’re happy to confirm it for you.
What Vision Insurance Plans Are Accepted?
On the vision side, Advantage Eye Care currently accepts:
- VSP (Vision Service Plan)
- Vision Care Direct (VCD)
- PVCs (Private Vision Care Plans)
If we don’t accept your insurance, don’t worry. We offer a time-of-service discount to help keep care affordable.
- A comprehensive eye exam is typically available for around $94 (subject to change).
- Patients may also receive approximately 10% off on glasses and other materials when paying out of pocket.
These discounts are a great option for patients without insurance or those with non-participating plans.
What Should I Bring to My Appointment?
If you’re using insurance, here’s what to bring:
- Your insurance card, if you have one. Some vision plans don’t provide physical cards, and that’s okay, just know your plan name.
- Medical insurance card (if applicable), in case your exam includes medical testing such as for cataracts, glaucoma, or diabetic retinopathy.
Even for routine eye exams, having your medical insurance on file helps in case additional tests are required.
How Insurance Billing Works for Medical Eye Exams
Sometimes, your exam may go beyond routine vision needs. If your eye doctor finds something that requires medical testing or follow-up, such as:
- Cataracts
- Glaucoma
- Diabetic eye disease
We’ll bill your medical insurance instead. Depending on your coverage, you may have:
- A co-pay due at the time of service
- A deductible that applies
- A statement later if insurance only partially covers the service
We’ll walk you through it and explain every step so there are no surprises.
What to Expect During a Comprehensive Eye Exam
Our team sees a lot of families, and comprehensive eye exams are tailored to each patient’s needs. The time it takes can vary depending on:
- Your individual eye health
- Whether additional testing is needed
- Any medical conditions discovered during the exam
Your Visit Step-by-Step:
- Check-In: Provide your insurance info or take advantage of our discounted pricing.
- Pre-Testing: A technician gathers basic eye health data.
- Doctor’s Exam: Your optometrist performs a full assessment of vision and eye health.
- Review & Recommendations: You’ll get prescriptions and recommendations for glasses, contact lenses, or follow-up care if needed.
The process is thorough, ensuring your vision and your overall health are in good hands.
